"Yes, I Can!"

My boys wanted to bike to school the other day and so I obliged. I walked and pushed our baby girl in the stroller and they biked. Its about a mile to and from school. The youngest boy kept complaining. He wouldn't stop saying that he couldn't do it.

I did my best to help him and push his bike on the uphills and then, I remembered the book "The Little Engine That Could" and recited the story briefly and had him repeat "Yes, I Can!" as he pedaled his bike.

On the way home, I could see he wasn't going very fast. He was getting tired. I admit, I was tired too. But he asked me "Mom, what's that word you taught me?" and I replied "Yes, I can" and he'd put on a smile, pedaled harder and said "Yes, I can" all the way home.

When you have some distance to travel and there is no way around it, you might as well do it with a smile and say "Yes, I can!" and the power of positive thinking will help you succeed.
