Through the Looking Glass

On Sunday, I remembered a story a little 3 yr old boy in our Primary gave about his thick eye-glasses. Without his glasses things were very blurry and on this day he lost his glasses. His older brother said a prayer to find them, and they did. The little boy thanked his brother for the help to find his precious glasses which allowed him to see again. They happily played the rest of the day together.

The Holy Ghost is like that pair of glasses. Without the Holy Ghost things are very blurry and when we make unrighteous choices, we lose the power to discern right from wrong. Our older brother, Jesus Christ, loves us and wants us to follow him. When we come unto Christ and seek out the right, we can have the Holy Ghost back in our lives. With the precious Holy Ghost, we can see clear and we are happier.

Looking at this picture by Deann I noticed that the blinds were drawn shut. I became curious. With the blinds shut, I cannot see through the window pane. In theory, I could (1) go and knock on the door to see into the room and circumvent the window completely or (2) wait for someone to open the blinds or (3) forget about it and keep on moving.

Now, go back to the Holy Ghost analogy... We pray. We seek answers for things we desire, but then we are asked to wait or move along without it for awhile. We stand patiently waiting for something we're not supposed to get now or yet or ever. So we resort to whining and become impatient and we go to the door and knock. We beg to have the blinds opened to see beyond our current scope of vision.

We trust the Lord has a plan for us, but we neglect to realize the timing and how it will play out. We forget that the Holy Ghost has provided us with answers from the Lord to (1) Wait patiently because it will open soon or (2) Forget about it for now and keep moving or that (3) it won't happen in this lifetime so please refocus and enjoy the flowers instead.

Those are tough responses to things we feel deserving of now. Although our curious minds wonder about "what if" or "why" or "when" scenarios, we need to trust when the Lord is ready for us; He will invite us in and that is more glorious than merely looking through the glass anyway.
