This life is not filled with stagnant ideals and perfect scenarios. It requires hard work, constant fortitude, perseverance and the work is grinding to the body and soul. We are hear to prove our faithfulness to truth, right and to our Lord Jesus Christ and we have hope that all our best efforts will be rewarded.
This life is in a constant state of motion, change and adaptability. When we pray for strength, the Lord gives us rocks to move to build that strength. When we pray for patience, He provides us moments to practice patience. When we pray for abilities to endure, He gives us challenges that we can overcome under His watchful eye and eventually smile at our successes.
Marriage and family relations seems to me to be a mansion always under construction with improvements, modifications, and even demolition phases. They revolve around many variables and always in need of delicate attention to detail. Marriage must be build upon a sure foundation so that regardless of storms and phases, that marriage can withstand the turmoil and constant hammering and refining. Family relations are a whistling wind with major and minor affects on said mansion.
The lyrics "my castle stands upon pillars of salt, and pillars of sand" could summarize many couples when in doubt of continuing their marriage. However, "hell's foundations quiver" if that couple turns to the Lord and seeks forgiveness with one another to continue the honorable quest to build an eternal marriage, they find peace and sure up their fortress.
There are many moments in building a marriage that are hard, and require compromise, compassion, trust, love, helpfulness, sacrifice. There are many moments in building a marriage that are easy, relaxing, fun, and let you look around to see the big plan. Together with the daily grind of chores and elbow grease needed to get the cogs and corners dusted, there is ample time for leisure and joy in the process. Build together something you're both proud to offer.
We learn as we go. We make mistakes. We repair. We laugh. We love. We find joy in service. We forgive. We must seek out the good in all things and all people.
Remind yourself that your life, your marriage, your family relations are always under construction. Remember that its worth building right. Its worth your time, effort, talents and all that you possess to build it up. Do your best and when the time comes, that mansion will be waiting in Heaven for you, your spouse, your family and all will be perfected in Christ.
He's not going to fret about rusty nails or stain glass windows because you're building the best you can, and that's good enough regardless of mishaps along the way. There is hope for us all --we're amateur builders on a quest to build something worthy of our Father in Heaven...let's face it, all we can do is try and never give up on the process.
Try with a smile & sincere heart and He will accept! The construction zone is worth all you continue to offer it.
"Builders...
Blazing trails along the way;
Stepping-stones for generations
[Are your] deeds of ev’ry day.
Building new and firm foundations,
...Forging onward, ever onward"
