Opportunity

On Sunday, the sacrament meeting speaker likened a bullet to a testimony because a testimony is our defense against Satan.  Only this confused me, because a bullet is not a weapon unless you have a gun.  However, I thought about her statement and that unless you actually receive personal revelation (the bullet) and then share that testimony (the gun) taking action against Satan to defend yourself and others, you'll miss the target. Practice makes perfect and the more you learn how to receive personal revealation and share those bits and pieces when the Lord needs you, the better prepared you'll be in defending the truth.

When I was in kindergarten, we were taught how to memorize something.  To memorize anything you use as many of the six senses as possible -- touch, taste, smell, sight, sound.  Likewise, when you have a budding testimony and would like to keep it growing strong, you need to use more than one of your senses.  Your testimony needs to be felt, heard, and seen to be remembered and ready for action.

Elder Boyd K Packer in Oct 1994 talked about "your spiritual senses" and that Satan is using all different ways to destroy our spiritual senses.  But we have all the abilities necessary to protect our spiritual senses including much of what Elder Packer talked about -- the gift of the Holy Ghost, prayer, begin learning to discern, study scripture, listen to the still small voice, obey the Word of Wisdom, good music, attending Church meetings, and embarrassing the Comforter.

I invite you to read Elder Packer's talk (HERE) that you may learn.
