I was thinking of motherhood this morning driving to work. The kids were safe, but I felt like there was something more for me to do for them. These lyrics popped into my head; "Dare to do right! Dare to be true! You have a work that no other can do; Do it so bravely, so kindly, so well, Angels will hasten the story to tell....Other men’s failures can never save you. Stand by your conscience, your honor, your faith; Stand like a hero an battle till death."
I agree that being a mother is exhausting, exhilarating and scary sometimes. I continue each morning in the hope that what I'm doing now for our children will benefit them later and that they will remember me as their "brave, kind, faithful mother."
Each situation is different, each child is unique, but we treat them equally with love, kindness, and compassion. I'm learning how to do the scary parts better (like math timings and research papers and basketball).
Then, I found an extreme race called "Spartan Race" that was built on a code of a Spartan, but I think it applies boldly to that of Mothers:
Pushes their mind and body to their limits.
Masters their emotions.
Learns continuously.
Gives generously.
Leads.
Stands up for what they believe in, no matter the cost.
Knows their flaws as well as they know their strengths.
Proves themselves through actions, not words.
Lives every day as if it were their last.
So, I dare myself to do right each day so that if its my last, I have strength and courage to finish all that the Lord needs me to do. I will bear up arms around our little ones and defend them and protect them and:
Dare to do right!
Dare to be true!
Do the work that no other can do!
Do it so bravely!
Do it so kindly!
Do it so well!
Thank Angels who hasten the story to tell.
Know other men’s failures can never save me.
Stand by my conscience.
Stand by my honor.
Stand by my faith.
Battle till death.
